Miami, July 2024- ViendoMovies, the channel owned by SOMOSTV (a company presided over by Luis Villanueva and part of SOMOS Group), is airing this weekend thecontroversial and original Mexican film “Finlandia” (2022). Directed by Horacio Alcalá, this LGBTQ-themed movie has won and been nominated for several awards andcomplements the channel’s programming strategy for the month of July. These experiences transform the life of Marta, a designer, as her perception of reality and self-awareness shifts while she interacts with the inhabitants of this segment of society, uncovering the origins of their torment. “Finlandia” has received 5 awards and 6 nominations at international film festivals. The movie was nominated for three Ariel Awards (Best Male Performance, Best Costume Design, and Best Makeup). It gained recognition for its director at the Seattle International Film Festival and received the Audience Award at the Oslo International Film Festival, as well as the Audience Award at the Córdoba Film Week, among other accolades.

The premiere of “Finlandia” strengthens the channel’s July programming, featuring its “Domingos Deportivos” (Sports Sundays) cycle.
