MIAMI, Fl., October, 2018 –
ViendoMovies, the 24-hours a day channel featuring exclusive, commercial free
movies originally produced in Spanish, announces its exclusive premieres for
October, important month of the year where TV watching starts to increase. As
always, ViendoMovies, owned by SOMOSTV, stands out for broadcasting the best of
the cinema originally produced in Spanish, and for this fall the selection of
titles includes high profile films, widely recognized in the Spanish language
film industry.
For starters, ViendoMovies presents
the dramatic genre "Ma Ma"
(Spain). Awarded to 14 nominations in eight film festivals, including the Goya
prize; and winner of the "Fotogramas de Plata" and Platinum Awards as
best actress for her role, Penelope Cruz personifies Magda, an unemployed
teacher who is diagnosed with breast cancer. Thanks to her courage and
optimism, she and her closed ones will live unexpected scenes of humor and
happiness.
ViendoMovies also shows "Un Monstruo de Mil Cabezas"
(Mexico), based on a story of a woman with a sick husband who needs a complex
treatment recommended by a doctor; however, the insurance company of which they
are associated refuses to pay for it. This film, emotional and suspenseful, was
nominated for the Miami Film Festival, and has won 11 awards, including the
"Ariel" award (equivalent
to the "Oscars" for Mexican cinema). Another Mexican drama in an
exclusive premiere is "Sueño en Otro
Idioma." Martin, a young linguist, comes to a village in a jungle to
study Zikril. The story gets complicated when Martin discovers that there are
only two native speakers alive, and they have not spoken to each other in 50
years. Martin will seek reconciliation between them and will try to prevent
this millenary language from disappearing.
Another film,"Aquí no ha Pasado Nada" (Chile),
tells the story of Vicente, a Chilean who resides in Los Angeles and returns to
Chile to enjoy the summer at his parents' house. On one of those nights of
enjoyment, Vicente becomes the main suspect in a hit and run car accident that
causes the death of a local fisherman. Vicente suspiciously remembers nothing,
only that he was in the car and that the driver was the son of a powerful
politician. Finishing with the dramatic genre, ViendoMovies presents "Baires" (Argentina). Mateo
(Benjamin Vicuña) and Trini (Sabrina Garciarena) take a romantic vacation that
turns into a nightmare when a gang of drug traffickers kidnaps Trini. The only
way they will release her is if Mateo takes a cocaine shipment to Spain. Once
he fulfills his dangerous mission, the criminals commit to put Trini on the
next flight to Madrid.
ViendoMovies also will show "El Club" (Chile), a film with more
than 19 nominations, including a Golden Globe, and 17 international awards.
This film develops a plot between four priests who live in a retreat house of a
coastal town under the eyes of Monica, a nun caretaker. The priests are there
to purge their sins, but the routine and tranquility of the place are broken
when a tormented fifth priest arrives who makes them relive the past they thought
they had left behind.
Moving to the popular comedy genre,
"Me Case con un Boludo"
(Argentina) will not disappoint viewers. Fabian a renowned actor, and Florence
a completely unknown actress, embark on a fiery relationship that leads to an
unsuccessful marriage. As often happens in this type of relationship, Florencia
realizes that she has married a good-for-nothing, but Fabian, knowing what she
thinks of him, will devise a broken-down plan with the scriptwriter of his most
famous film. "Brillantes",
another Chilean film part of the fall lineup, frames the persecution of two
unfortunate Chileans by the US police and an organized crime gang.
Finally, from Spain ViendoMovies shows
two funny releases: "El Intercambio"
and the acclaimed comedy "Ocho
Apellidos Catalanes." "El
Intercambio" places Jaime with his wife Eva in a promiscuous exchange
with another couple, which does not turn out to be what they expected. "Ocho Apellidos Catalanes" is
starred by Amaia (Clara Lago) and Rafa (Dani Rovira). Koldo, the Basque father
of Amaia, is mortified when he learns that his daughter is in love with a
Catalan. He urgently contacts Rafa, Amaia’s ex, and both decide to set off to
Catalonia to rescue Amaia from the Catalonian's arms and his customs. This film
is the sequel to the hit movie "Ocho
Apellidos Vascos."
