MIAMI, FL., April, 2023 – ViendoMovies, the Spanish-language movie channel 24 hours a day and without commercial breaks, owned by SOMOSTV (company chaired by Luis Villanueva and part of SOMOS Group), presents in April a cycle dedicated to María Valverde, one of the most popular and well-known actresses of Spanish cinema. Every Sunday in April, ViendoMovies schedules a movie in the different genres of romance, drama and comedy, starring this actress. The titles are: Tres Metros Sobre el Cielo, Madrid 1987, La Carga, and Ahora o Nunca. 

With the cycle of María Valverde, ViendoMovies continues with its support to Spanish-language cinema and its talent. The channel is also characterized by the coverage of events and festivals where this cinema has its presence and its extensive library allows it to program this type of cycles that cover the entire range of artistic talent and productions in all genres.

María Valverde, born in Madrid, Spain, debuted at age 16 in the Spanish film La Flaqueza del Bolchevique. Thanks to this role, she won the Goya Award for Best New Actress. In 2010, she starred in the film Tres Metros sobre el Cielo alongside Mario Casas, which became the highest grossing film of the year in Spain. In this movie she played Babi, an upper-class young woman who falls in love with a boy of different social classes. She currently has 7 awards and 3 nominations in her career.

The cycle begins with the film Tres Metros Sobre el Cielo on Sunday, April 9. Released in 2010, it is the story of two young people who belong to different worlds. Babi (Maria Valverde) is an upper-middle class girl who is educated in goodness and innocence. Hache (Mario Casas) is a rebellious boy, impulsive, unconscious, who is always looking for risk and danger in fights and illegal motorcycle races.  It is the chronicle of an improbable love, almost impossible but inevitably taken on a frantic journey in which they discover the first great love. The film has an ACE award for Mario Casas as Best New Actor, and 2 nominations for prestigious awards such as the Goya Awards and Fotogramas de Plata.

The cycle continues with Madrid 1987. Miguel is an old columnist of strong character. Angela, a very young student of Journalism. Both meet in a café in Madrid on a hot day in July 1987. Felipe González's hair is already full of gray hair and ETA sows panic with a brutal attack on the Hipercor in Barcelona. In this context, our two protagonists are forced to spend the day together, giving free rein to desire, inspiration, talent and career prospects.

La Carga, a Spanish drama, is presented on Sunday, April 23. A Tameme Indian and a Spanish noblewoman flee through the forests of the New World in search of their freedom. Their frantic journey eases the tension between them and dissolves their old differences and creates intimate bonds that threaten their very survival. It features two Silver Goddesses for Best Cinematography and Best Music.

To culminate, Ahora o Nunca arrives to make the entire audience of ViendoMovies laugh. Eva and Alex are a couple who, after years of dating, decide to get married in the place where they fell in love: a small village in the English countryside. The wedding problems begin when a strike by air traffic controllers prevents the groom and guests from meeting with the bride and her entourage.
