MIAMI, Fl., November, 2022 – ViendoMovies, the Spanish-language movie channel 24 hours a day and without commercial breaks, owned by SOMOSTV (a company chaired by Luis Villanueva and part of the SOMOS Group), celebrates the Mexican Revolution on November 20, dedicating its programming to audiences in the United States and Puerto Rico with roots in this beautiful country. The channel, as part of its programming strategy that celebrates the festivities of the Latino market communities, offers a cycle of Mexican films with a special and exclusive high profile: Campeones, México Sub-17, El Fantástico Mundo de Juan Orol, and Ciudadano Buelna.
The cycle begins with Campeones, Mexico Sub-17, adding itself to the ViendoMovies Soccer Cycle every Sunday in November. Nominated for the Ariel Awards for Best Ibero-American Film, Campeones, México Sub-17 is based in the city of Lima, Peru. A coach and twenty-one players under the age of seventeen made history by winning the first Soccer World Cup for Mexico. "Campeones" recounts in retrospect, the details from entertaining and witty, to dramatically bitter, of the intense preparation that was carried out to achieve the saga.
El Fantástico Mundo de Juan Orol is the second film in the cycle. As its title suggests, it is a biography of one of the icons in the history of Mexican cinema. Juan Orol has a life full of adventures until he enters the film industry to become a renowned director. This biography has 27 awards and 5 nominations. Among them, Best Film at the ACE Awards, Best Male Performance at the Ariel Awards, and Best Mexican Feature Film at the Hermosillo International Film Festival.
The celebration of this date culminates with Ciudadano Buelna. With 6 nominations and 2 Ariel Awards, the biographical production tells the life of Rafael Buelna Tenorio (Sebastián Zurita), a law student from Sinaloa, who dreamed of an egalitarian country. Committed to his ideals, and with the support of his wife María Luisa Sarría (Marimar Vega), Buelna fights for his deep conviction of justice and equity, and dies at the age of 33, going down in history as a young nonconformist, unknown to history, who dreamed of an egalitarian country.
With this special programming, ViendoMovies honors the largest Latino population in the United States, showing the strength of Mexican cinema in the film industry with the production of so many memorable films in all eras.
