A noteworthy film is Las Brujas de Zugarramurdi. This horror comedy produced in Spain won 18 awards at the Goya, Feroz, and Fénix Awards, among others. In it, the celebrated Mario Casas and actor Hugo Silva play two thieves who commit a robbery and flee from the police and the ex-wife of one of them (Macarena Gómez). Both hide in the depths of the forests of Navarra in a house inhabited by a horde of crazed women who feed on human flesh.
As an outstanding film there is also Veronica, a film with 19 nominations and 5 awards and shot largely in Guadalajara. Among the awards, the nomination for the Goya Awards for Best Film, Best New Actress for Sandra Escacena, and the award for Best Sound stand out. During an eclipse, Veronica, her friend Rosa and her partner Diana enter the basement for a session using a Ouija board. Veronica wants to contact her late father, and Diana wants to get closer to her late boyfriend, who died in a motorcycle accident. Veronica begins to experience paranormal events.
