MIAMI, Fl., August 2022 –ViendoMovies, the Spanish-language movie channel 24 hours a day and without commercial breaks, owned by SOMOSTV (company chaired by Luis Villanueva and part of SOMOS Group), presents the exclusive premiere this Saturday, September 3 of the movie Carmen y Lola. This film, produced in Spain, is part of the channel's programming strategy, which promotes and presents a selection of high-profile and quality film titles in the Hispanic market in the United States and Puerto Rico, from countries with the highest tradition of the film industry in Spanish. Carmen y Lola has a stellar cast, led by Zaira Romero and Rosy Rodríguez and is directed by Arantxa Echevarria.

The film touches on a controversial and topical issue. Carmen, 17, lives in a gypsy community on the outskirts of Madrid and works with her family in a market. Like every other woman she has ever met, she is destined to live a life that repeats itself generation after generation: get married and raise as many children as possible. She gets engaged to Rafa, but one day she meets Lola, 16, an unusual gypsy girl who dreams of going to university, she draws graffiti and she likes girls. She also helps her family in the street market. They quickly develop a complicity with each other and discover a world that inevitably leads them to be rejected by their families. Carmen y Lola received positive feedback for the authenticity of its cast, the story, and the conflict with a traditional society.

Carmen y Lola has 32 nominations and 13 awards. Among them, Best New Director for Echevarría at the Goya Awards, nominated for the Platinum Awards for Best First Work, and both protagonists nominated for the Goya Award for Best New Actress. Also, Rodriguez and Romero were nominated for the Film Writers Circle Award for Best New Actress. The film also won the Violeta de Oro award at the Toulouse Spanish Film Festival and received praise from the public and specialized critics.
