ViendoMovies with big premieres for the month of February

MIAMI, Fl., January, 2020 – ViendoMovies, the 24-hours a day SOMOSTV (company chaired by Luis Villanueva and part of SOMOS Group) channel featuring exclusive, commercial free movies, originally produced in Spanish, presents in the month of love and friendship a high profile movie set dedicated to its audience in the United States and Puerto Rico who want to share with their special someone, family and friends a nice time watching movies. These great Ibero-American premieres are exclusive to the channel and it celebrates this special month with award-winning, quality programming and a cinema that is diverse in origin and genre. The channel is characterized by a premiere programming strategy that represents the best of contemporary cinema in Spanish.


The main premiere is La Habitación (Mexico). With 8 nominations for the Ariel awards (it won 5) and winner of the Richmond International Festival, this is a tale of eight different stories, which take place in the same room but at different times in the modern history of Mexico, thus showing the transformation of the country in its last hundred years. In the voice of the producer Natalia Beristáin in an interview said, “in La Habitación you will find various narrative styles, you may feel closer to some stories more than to others, but in general you will find a consistency of talents, a very rich and varied collage of faces, and also something resonates: why are we living in this type Mexico. It is a film that opens questions and refers to Mexico’s memory, something that as a country we need, to know where we come from and why we are where we are, this film aim at that.”

Next is the Spanish hit Mi querida cofradía. In this comedy directed by Marta Diaz, Carmen has spent more than 30 years working for her town’s cofradia, and her dream is to become the "older sister", but after a vote has taken place, Ignacio is elected "older brother". After an unfortunate accident, Carmen leaves him unconscious and has to hide him at home. Everything gets complicated when her daughter argues with her husband (current mayor of the town) and decides to return to her mother's house. The film was awarded at the Malaga Festival for Best Supporting Actress (Carmen Flores) and nominated for Best Film (Comedy) at the Feroz Awards.

In the drama Temblores (Guatemala), directed by Jayro Bustamante, Pablo is a “good man”: a practicing evangelical Christian, 40 years old and married with two children. But one day Pablo falls in love with Francisco and decides to abandon his devout evangelical family. His family members, however, put their faith and family above all else and still cling to the idea of being able to "cure" Pablo. The film was nominated for 19 international awards and awarded with 13 and has the participation of actors such as María Telón, Juan Pablo Olyslager, Diane Bathen and Sabrina de La Hoz, among others.
From the Dominican Republic, a country that stands out for its cinema that is gaining more and more acceptance, the channel presents La lucha de Ana. Ana is a working single mother who sells flowers in the market and uses her money to give her son a good education. A tragedy occurs and will unleash the wrath of Ana who will seek revenge.

The month of February culminates with the Chilean drama Cabros de Mierda, directed by Gonzalo Justiniano. Winner of the award for best art direction at the Ceará National Film Festival, this is the history of Gladys, known as "La Francesita", a young woman of character who lives day to day in a marginal neighborhood of Santiago, in the Pinochet era. Gladys welcomes a naive young American missionary named Samuel Thompson, who comes to preach the word of God. With his camera, Samuel will record how the population struggles to survive in a situation of normal abnormality, with real and unpublished images, which have served as material for historical and judicial reconstruction in cases such as the murder of priest Jarlán.
