MIAMI, Fl., January, 2021 – ViendoMovies, the pay
TV channel owned by SOMOSTV (company chaired by Luis Villanueva and part of
SOMOS Group), which programs the best exclusive films, 24 hours a day and
without commercial breaks, in its strategy of supporting cinema originally
produced in Spanish, the chanel presents for the month of January a special
movie cycle starring the Spanish film star Javier Cámara. During the year,
ViendoMovies presents these cycles with actors from different countries with
the aim of promoting the talent of countries among the Latin audience that
resides in the United States and Puerto Rico.
The talented Spanish actor/director Javier
Cámara made his debut in the theater at the beginning of the nineties and
shortly afterwards he turned to television fiction. He became popular for his
role in the first three seasons of Telecinco's 7 Vidas. With his participation
in Lucía y el sexo and the work he
did with Almodóvar in Hable con ella,
he established himself as one of the most important actors on the Spanish scene
at the beginning of 2000. Javier Cámara has been nominated and awarded prizes (47 nominations and 28 awards) in numerous
events such as the Fotogramas de Plata Awards, Gaudi Awards, Goya Awards, Iris
Awards, Jose Maria Forque Awards, the Miami Film Festival, Malaga Film
Festival, Onda Awards, Ace Awards, Platinum Awards and others.
Opening the cycle is Truman,
on Sunday the 3. A comedy with a touch of drama presents friendship and
solidarity in context above all else. Julián (Ricardo Darín) and Tomás (Javier
Cámara) are lifelong friends. Julian decides to visit Tomás in Canada and they
both have very emotional and surprising moments, especially since this will be
their last meeting. Truman was awarded at the Goya Awards, San Sebastián
Festival, Feroz Awards, Forqué Awards, Gaudí Awards, Platino Awards, Fénix
Awards, among others.
On Sunday the 10, Torrente 1
will bring laughter and joy to the channel’s subscribers. This is the first
great success of a series of feature films, characterized by their thick humor
and social criticism. Torrente, the stupid arm of the law had a great
reception from the public and also from critics. With 3 nominations and 2 Goya
awards, the police comedy follows the police officer Torrente, a fascist,
macho, racist, alcoholic and Atlético de Madrid fan. He has a neighbor
named Rafi (Javier Cámara) who likes action movies and guns, and who lives with
his mother and his cousin Amparito, a nympho. Together, Torrente and Rafi will
patrol the streets of the city at night.
For Sunday 17 the comedy La Vida Inesperada can
be ejoyed. Juanito is an actor who went to New York to succeed. The
years have passed, he has not achieved the success he expected, and now he
makes a living working what he can. One day his cousin comes to visit him,
apparently a winner who has "everything one hopes to have." However,
the coexistence between the two will gradually discover the reality behind each
of them. The film participated and was nominated for the Film Scriptwriters
Awards, ASECAN, the Feroz Awards, the Malaga Festival and the Turia Awards.
The cycle culminates on the
24th with Es por tu bien, a hilarious comedy with a great cast of
actors: José Coronado, Javier Cámara and Roberto Álamo. The time has come for
three parents to meet their daughters' boyfriends. This usual situation turns
into a nightmare when they realize that the boyfriends are despicable men and
little for their daugthers. The three parents will join forces to get rid of
them in any way.
