21-01-2020

MIAMI, January 21, 2020 - SOMOS Productions, the independent audiovisual content production company, chaired by Luis Villanueva, and Spanish producers Pausoka and Lavinia Audiovisual, announced at NATPE the production of Puerto Vallarta, a miniseries inspired by real events. The 8-episode 50-minute miniseries tells the story of a lovely family made up of two ETA terrorists with false identities.

The series tells the story of a couple with three children who have lived 28 years  in a tourist town in Mexico, the town of Puerto Vallarta. The head of the family is Francisco, owner of a bar and his wife Teresa teaches pottery. No one, not even their children, suspects that they are actually two terrorists  who have escaped from the Spanish justice. The story turns when the couple's youngest daughter uploads a video of her mother in YouTube. That is when Francisco and Teresa realize that their peaceful life has come to an end and they will have to run again from justice.

Luis Villanueva, President of SOMOS Productions declared; "We are very proud of this project with Pausoka and Lavinia Audiovisual, prestigious companies with whom we have made an association to produce this series with a fascinating theme. Puerto Vallarta mixes the human with the political, and the suspense with the action. The theme of Puerto Vallarta also mixes beautiful locations with a fascinating history  that will delight audiences and will surely generate a high interest among our clients."

Xabi Zabaleta, Pausoka Project Director and executive producer announced: "We have a very Basque and at the same time tremendously universal history, where we can walk along the fine line that separates good from evil. Little by little, these stories of former ETA members who have escape from justice and remade their lives in Latin America are known. It is something that also happened with the Nazis, torturers of various dictatorships ... that's why I think this is a story that can have a great international response. For us, it was essential to find partners in Catalonia and in Latin America, where the story will also take place. We believe a lot in co-productions, teamwork and the sum of different points of view, SOMOS is a strong ally in Latin America, this is a very organic co-production and we are happy. "

Rubén Mayoral, General Director of Contents of the Lavinia group: "Pausoka and Somos Productions are the ideal travel companions for a story that crosses borders. A fiction based on real events that generates questions such as: do we really know our loved ones? Does the world deserve a second chance? Can we forgive some good parents with a bloodthirsty past? ... The story hit us from the beginning and we were clear that the series will seduce audiences. The alliance of the three producers guarantees the commitment to the ambition of the project."

SOMOS Productions has impacted the market with co-productions that have had great acceptance among the public such as Hasta Que Te Conocí and great expectation like Súbete a Mi Moto, as well as live shows and youth soap operas (11-11, En Mi Cuadra Nada Cuadra, and Vicky RPM) among other contents. Pausoka, on the other hand, produces formats, series, films for television and documentaries and is the producer of the famous soap opera Goenkale. Lavinia Audiovisual creates, develops and produces television formats for the main television networks in Spain in genres of entertainment, documentary and fiction, including the series Alaska y Mario (winner of the Iris award) and the successful No pot ser !, which has generated High ratings on Catalan television.
