MIAMI, Fl., January, 2020 – ViendoMovies, the 24-hours a day SOMOSTV (company chaired by Luis Villanueva and part of SOMOS Group) channel featuring exclusive, commercial free movies, originally produced in Spanish, begins this year with the right foot by bringing a cycle of contemporary films full of laugh, drama and many movie stars. In January, ViendoMovies premiers La Cordillera (Argentina), Cómprame un Revolver (Mexico), El Viaje Extraordinario de Celeste García (Cuba), Taxi a Gibraltar (Spain), Sambá (Dominican Republic), Violeta al Fin (Costa Rica), La Noche de las Dos Lunas (Venezuela), Wedding en New York (Spain)  y  La Última Noticia (Peru), an ideal movie selection for when the weather invites us to stay in our homes.

La Cordillera obtained 25 nominations among the Goya Awards, Cannes Film Festival, Forqué Awards, Phoenix Awards and Platinum Awards. In this film, the president of Argentina Hernán Blanco (Ricardo Darín) is at the Latin American presidents summit that takes place in La Cordillera. Over there, in front of all heads of state, he must make a decision about a personal problem that can affect his private and public life. In Cómprame un Revolver (a big screen hit with 9 nominations among international awards) shows Huck's story. Huck, a small girl from Mexico, hides her face with a mask so people don't recognize her gender. She does this because many women are disappearing where she lives. Disguised, she helps her father, an addict who maintains a baseball field where a gang of narcos gather to play.

For comedy lovers, ViendoMovies brings El Viaje Extraordinario de Celeste García. With three nominations at international festivals, the film shows the story of Celeste (María Isabel Díaz), a widow who lives a quiet life doing tours in a planetarium in La Havana. One day, the government communicates that there are aliens living on earth. Celeste always thought that her neighbor was a “strange” person from a distant galaxy. Celeste confirms this theory when she receives an invitation from the neighbor to visit her on her planet. Celeste decides to embark in her big adventure.

Sambá, a movie by Laura Amelia Guzmán and Israel Cárdenas, is the first Dominican film that manages to enter in the Tribeca Film Festival. After serving an unfair sentence in an American prison, Cisco is released and sent home. His alcoholic mother is in poor health condition. The only way to get money and save her is to get into boxing. Nichi, a former Italian boxing fighter, sees Cisco’s potential, and to settle his debts, he offers Cisco to train him. Nichi trains Cisco and during the process he discovers that the final fight must be reached to fulfill the dream within the ring.
